'Eyes Wide Open' on ABC TV
Reporter: Quentin McDermott
ABC Broadcast: 13/08/2007
Sleep deprivation is no trivial matter, with economists estimating insomnia and other sleep disorders are costing the community over $10 billion a year.
Sufferers of sleep deprivation also talk to Four Corners about the risks they take with their own lives, and the lives of others, as a result of their extreme fatigue. Ironically the medical profession is one of the worst offenders. Four Corners explores the tragic case of a doctor who died of complications apparently triggered by fatigue.
