The philosophy at SomnoMed
At SomnoMed, we pride ourselves on our evidence-based approach to OSA treatment and the development of the SomnoDent® MAS. In 2004, after 7 years of clinical research, SomnoMed was approved to commercialize its mandibular advancement splint, the SomnoDent® MAS, as a clinically validated treatment of OSA. Developed by orthodontist Dr Richard Palmisano, SomnoMed wholly owns all intellectual property rights to the MAS. In line with this philosophy, SomnoMed continues to conduct research and development projects to provide further clinical evidence, and to increase the efficacy of our MAS to better serve our patients and their dentists and doctors. While we create potentially life-changing devices, it is the interdisciplinary treatment support network we foster which ensures patients are treated thoroughly, and in line with our evidence-based approach. Through these values we aim to provide reliable support to patients, dentists and referring specialists in our shared quest to alleviate the strain of OSA on the community.
With over 10 years of clinical research, SomnomMed has developed the gold standard in oral appliance therapy - the SomnoDent® MAS - A patented, clinically proven and compliant OSA treatment. With reduced bulkiness, no tongue space restriction and two separate pieces, the SomnoDent® MAS allows for speaking, yawning and drinking which renders the SomnoDent® MAS comfortable and easy to wear. Additionally, the new SMH BFlex lining gives the SomnoDent® MAS an even better look, feel and effectiveness. SomnoMed continues to support Australian cutting edge clinical research with improvements in patient health outcomes, which is regarded highly on the world sleep stage. In Memory of Dr Richard Palmisano

On 4th November 2009 we lost our friend, colleague and inventor Dr Richard Palmisano. On behalf of the Directors and Management of SomnoMed Group we extend our deepest condolences to Richard’s family for their loss.
Richard or “Dick” as he was known to friends was Orthodontist, inventor and tireless thinker, making vast contributions to our company. Never satisfied with the status quo and constantly looking for improvements Dick’s creative energies continued to push research and development at SomnoMed.
Dick actively contributed until 2007 and his legacy will be continued directly through SomnoMed’s ongoing clinical and technical research. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Sincerely,
